Overview
The Tibetan side approach to Everest Base Camp via the Friendship Highway provides a radically different perspective on Chomolungma from the Nepal side. The Chinese Base Camp at 5200m is accessible by vehicle to a point impossible from the Nepal side, but the additional 20-kilometre walk to Advanced Base Camp at 6400m is the most accessible extreme altitude trek in the world. The north face view from ABC is the face that defeated pre-war British expeditions.
