Overview
The Alay Valley south of Osh is a high plateau at 3000m flanked by the Alay Range and the Trans-Alay peaks including Lenin Peak at 7134m on the Tajik border. Trekking from Sary Moghul through nomadic Kyrgyz summer pastures toward the base camps of Lenin Peak delivers spectacular views of a 100-kilometre line of 7000m mountains across the Tajik frontier. This is Central Asian alpine scenery at its grandest scale.
