The Valley of Flowers National Park is a high-altitude Himalayan valley transformed each monsoon season into a carpet of 500 species of wildflowers, from Himalayan blue poppy to cobra lily. The UNESCO World Heritage site is accessible only in the three months of July to September before winter snow closes the approach, and the adjacent Hem Kund Sahib Sikh pilgrimage lake at 4329m adds spiritual dimension to a botanically extraordinary journey.
