Overview
The Amnye Machen sacred mountain in Qinghai is the pre-eminent mountain deity of the Amdo Tibetan region, and its kora circumambulation at 4000-5000m through remote grassland, glacial valleys, and nomad camps is one of the least-known great pilgrimages in Asia. The 220-kilometre circuit takes 8-10 days and passes below the Amnye Machen glacier complex before ascending to the highest point at 5200m above the main face.
