Overview
The kora circumambulation of Mount Kailash at 6638m is the world's most sacred pilgrimage circuit, considered holy simultaneously by Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, and Bon traditions. The 52-kilometre circuit crosses the Dolma La pass at 5630m, highest point on any major pilgrimage route. The approach through western Tibet across the Tibetan plateau itself requires a journey of hundreds of kilometres through one of earth's most extreme high altitude landscapes.
