Overview
The Wakhan Corridor is a narrow strip of Afghan territory that gives Afghanistan a border with China and connects the Pamirs with the Hindu Kush. The Tajik side follows the Panj River border with Afghanistan through the valley of the Wakhi people and onward to the Lake Chaqmaqtin plateau at 4600m. The combination of extraordinary remoteness, Wakhi nomadic culture, and the geopolitical curiosity of being in one of history's most contested corridors creates a deeply memorable expedition.
