Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia · Australia
Ningaloo Reef is Australia's longest fringing reef and one of the few places on earth where whale sharks congregate predictably each year from March to July. Unlike the Great Barrier Reef, Ningaloo sits within walking distance of the beach, and snorkelling with whale sharks is possible for non-divers. Manta rays glide through coral gardens year-round, and the isolated Western Australian coast setting makes this less visited but equally extraordinary.
