Overview
The Helambu Valley north of Kathmandu is the most accessible Himalayan trekking destination in Nepal, a circuit through Sherpa villages, apple orchards, and rhododendron forests without the crowds of the Annapurna or Everest regions. Gosaikunda Sacred Lake at 4380m is the spiritual centrepiece, a Hindu pilgrimage site where Lord Shiva is believed to have formed the lake with his trident. The Laurebina Pass connects the lake with the Helambu valley below.
