Overview
The Wolong National Nature Reserve in Sichuan is China's most important giant panda research and breeding center, and the surrounding Qionglai Mountains host wild panda populations in bamboo forests above 2000m. Volunteer programs allow participants to assist with daily panda care, while trekking the mountain bamboo forests provides a slim but genuine chance of encountering a wild giant panda. The red panda is much more commonly spotted.
