Overview

Bag eight Munros across the Cairngorms and Glencoe in eight days — a highland circuit that showcases the full character of Scotland's wild places. Start in the Cairngorm plateau, the UK's only sub-arctic mountain environment, where plateau walks above 1,200 m cross snowfields well into summer. Then move west to Glencoe's famous ridges: the Aonach Eagach and the Bidean nam Bian massif where narrow crests demand hands-and-feet scrambling. This is mountain weather at its most theatrical — mist rolling in from the Atlantic, sudden sunshine breaking on a lochan, and the almost magical quality of Scottish light in the golden hour. Navigation is core to the experience: OS map and compass work in low visibility is expected and tested. Evenings are spent in stone-walled bothies or classic mountain hostels, drying gear over radiators and sharing whisky with other hillwalkers.
