Overview
The Gokyo Lakes route in the Everest region provides arguably the finest panoramic views of the Himalaya available to non-climbers, with the ascent of Gokyo Ri at 5,357 metres offering simultaneous views of Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu, four of the six highest mountains on Earth. The Gokyo Lakes chain of six glacial lakes at over 4,700 metres includes the world's highest freshwater lake system and is fringed by the Ngozumpa Glacier, Nepal's largest.
