Overview
Gran Canaria has been called a miniature continent for its extraordinary landscape diversity, with active volcanic peaks at 1,949 metres descending through cloud forest and pine to desert dunes at Maspalomas in under 50 kilometres. The Transgrancanaria ultra-marathon route of 125 kilometres with 8,500 metres of climbing is one of Europe's most prestigious trail races, but the marked trails are accessible to all fitness levels. The Roque Nublo volcanic monolith and the Bentayga sacred site of the Guanche people are iconic waypoints.
