Overview
The Nar Phu Valley trek in the Annapurna Conservation Area accesses a restricted zone even more remote than Upper Mustang, with villages that have had minimal contact with outside culture until the route opened in 2002. The double passes of Kang La at 5,320 metres and the descent into the Manang Valley connecting to the classic Annapurna Circuit create an extraordinary extension. The Tibetan plateau landscapes of Nar and Phu villages at 4,200 metres feel completely otherworldly.
