Overview
The Death Road descent in Bolivia near La Paz descends 3,600 metres in 64 kilometres from the Andean altiplano to the Amazon basin cloud forest, but the similar Lares and Abra Malaga descents above Ollantaytambo in Peru are less crowded and equally spectacular. The Maras salt pans and Moray Inca terracing en route provide Inca archaeology alongside the adrenaline descent. Local bikes are provided by several operators in Pisac and Ollantaytambo.
