Overview
The Chilkoot Pass trail from Dyea Alaska to Bennett Lake in the Yukon follows the exact route that 30,000 Klondike Gold Rush stampeders climbed in 1898 in continuous human chains up the notorious Golden Staircase. At the top of the pass at 1,067 metres, artefacts from 1898 still lie abandoned in the arctic tundra exactly where exhausted miners dropped them. The three-day route crosses from the USA into Canada at the summit.
