Puerto Jimenez · Costa Rica
The Corcovado National Park on the Osa Peninsula is described by National Geographic as the most biologically intense place on Earth, with the highest density of primary jungle remaining in Central America. A week-long traverse from Los Patos ranger station to Sirena biological station and out to Carate beach passes through territory where tapirs, jaguars, four species of monkey, and scarlet macaws share the same forest. The Sirena station is reachable only on foot or by small plane.
