Ski touring in the Zanskar and Lahaul ranges of the Indian Himalaya during winter offers extreme isolation and world-class powder above 4,000 metres with virtually no other skiers present. The legendary Drang-Drung glacier above Kargil provides a 15-kilometre descent that challenges even expert ski mountaineers. This is considered one of the last truly wild ski mountaineering frontiers, with new routes being established each season.
