Overview
The West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island's Pacific coast was originally built as a lifeline rescue route for shipwrecked sailors on the Graveyard of the Pacific. Today it is one of Canada's most challenging and rewarding multi-day coastal routes, requiring ladder climbing, cable car crossings, and surf beach navigation over 75 kilometres. Ancient Quu'as West Coast Trail passes through Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations territory.
