Overview
The Karakoram Highway from Islamabad to Kashgar in China is one of the world's highest paved international roads, crossing the Khunjerab Pass at 4,693 m through the Karakoram, Himalayan, and Hindu Kush ranges simultaneously. Cycling this road passes under the second and twelfth highest mountains in the world (K2 from Concordia is a separate trek), through the Hunza Valley with its apricot orchards and ancient Silk Road forts, and over the pass into Xinjiang.
