Overview
The Appalachian Trail stretches 3,540 km from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine, traversing 14 states and taking 5–7 months to complete. It is the world's most hiked long-distance trail, with a culture entirely its own — trail names, trail magic, and the peculiar mathematics of daily mileage obsession. About 1 in 4 thru-hikers who start in Georgia make it to Katahdin. The rest still have a story.
