Overview
The pilgrimage to Everest Base Camp at 5,364 m follows the Dudh Kosi valley through Sherpa villages, Buddhist monasteries, and rhododendron forests before ascending to the Khumbu Glacier and the crowded, electric base camp itself. The real prize is Kala Patthar — the 5,545 m viewpoint where the full south face of Everest fills the frame. Acclimatise carefully; altitude sickness ends more trips than any other factor.
